Just checked the news and now wondering what are your opinions on this.
Any chance it will happen in the USA on a similar timeline?
Considering the political class we have, it will be a miracle if we aren’t all driving horse-and-buggies by 2035.
Horses give off green house gases.
So do politicians.
Yeah I agree with MrBob, horse buggies will have to be heavily taxed since they use so much food and produce so much gasses 😉 - as far as they're considered, they want you to use "public transport".
Indeed. To see how the people pushing this rot would have us all live, look up "15 minute cities".
Hype, and nothing new.
These policies date all the way back to 1990. Of course when everyone inevitably realizes that they can't be met, the policies are modified. This happens over and over.
And what do they expect us to drive? These? ...

I believe that this ICE ban will greatly benefit in the long run both China and USA which are the biggest contributors to making electric vehicles. Considering the massive geopolitical power of both, it's no wonder they are disrupting this old global traditional market currently dominated mostly by Europeans and Japanese/Koreans.
When it comes to the individual citizen however, adopting such new trends will be a lot more costly.
On the contrary, electric vehicles as they exist today have no real benefits. In the long run the junkyards will be full of them as they age and are not worth the cost of battery replacement. As Scotty has covered in detail in his videos, the whole push for electric cars is based on lies and is a boondoggle being forced on us for no good reason.
Old news. If you do a site search you'll find that this has already been discussed here. Scotty has also talked about it in his videos.
European here. It's actually turned out better for the automakers. The original law banning ICE cars didn't pass. They will continue to be sold alongside EVs, even after 2035, but the requirement is that they will need to use carbon neutral fuels so they don't pollute.
Somewhat better news but still nonsensical. CO2 is not "pollution".
Sadly after doing some research on eFuel, and how labourous it is to produce it... it can potentially be arround 10x more expensive than regular fuel. Therefore, it's no way considered a viable alternative in my opinion.
They may have to back down on that also. A lot can happen between now and 2035.
I am of the understanding that the US, if not most states in the US, also have a 2035 new ICE car ban.
Thank you for your feedback, very interesting to see others perspectives on this.
I'm personally afraid that for everyone who wishes to continue with their ICE vehicle (whatever reason might it be), will suffer penalties such as gradually higher taxes, insurance, maintenance, etc... etc...
What do you guys think? If this is to happen, it will be outrageous and a direct attack to the individual's freedom.
You are correct. The ultimate goal appears to be an end to personal transportation, and private ownership in general ("you will own nothing and be happy"), but getting into that discussion is really off-topic for this site.
Oh, of course! Because when it comes to environmental initiatives, the United States has always been known to keep up with the European Union, hasn't it? I mean, just take a stroll down any American highway, and you'll see a sea of electric cars and solar-powered gas stations. So, when the EU bans new combustion cars by 2035, I'm sure the US will be right there alongside them, with bald eagles singing in harmony as we all drive our eco-friendly vehicles off into the sustainable sunset. In all seriousness, though, it's difficult to say whether the US will adopt similar policies within the same timeframe, given the intricate web of politics and economic interests involved.
