[Solved] How do I fix my cracked windshield?

Hi Scotty, I have a 2022 Ford Edge Titanium 2.0 Ecoboost 8 speed automatic AWD with 45,000 miles. I noticed that there is a crack in my front windshield. I want to get it fixed the right way, but I am not sure what to do. I also do not want to replace my entire windshield unless all other options have failed.  I found this product on the internet for $13.00 at Walmart (hyperlinked) and was wondering if its a good idea: https://www.walmart.com

Here is a picture of the crack:  https://imgur.com/a/UdTswlf

Any advice is much appreciated!

So my client referred me to Auto Glass Specialists in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. They absolutely KILLED it in terms of quality, customer service, and price- and best of all, they got insurance to cover the whole thing! And they used OEM Glass. Never using Safelite, or as I call them, "SCAMLITE", ever again!

J-B weld? You must be joking, that's no chip or small crack. That windshield may not have shattered but it's busted. The right way to fix it is to install a new one.

no, that's a non starter idea. That's chip filler. It doesn't work on cracks.

Tough toenails. This is a windshield that needs to be replaced mate. You don't "fix" cracks. The windshield is a structural element of your car, and it's compromised now, compromising the safety of all occupants. Not only that but it's going to be glinting sunlight and headlights at night, right in the center of your view. Don't be cheap with road safety.

Just replace the entire windshield. It's free with most full coverage insurance.

In 2022,  a rock took a chunk out of my windshield in my 1999 Ranger while they were doing construction on a section of highway. I had full coverage because I had rebuilt the transmission three years prior, and I didn't want to risk someone else being a dummy and crashing into me and my Ranger being written off without some kind of compensation. The glass replacement was free, and it only took around an hour to replace.

So here's an update.. Still trying to get this issue resolved.. Been getting screwed over by Safelite Auto Glass (DO NOT USE THEM- I learned this the hard way) and I need a glass replacement service  recommendation (my mechanic says he doesn't do it) in the South Florida area (Miami-Stuart or Naples to Sarasota). Any advice would be helpful.

@fishingandcarsenthusiast123 ask your insurance provider.

Sometimes a dealership is the best option.

Safelite is a franchise, every one is probably going to treat customers differently. I used them when I got my Ranger's windshield replaced (I used the Washington Township, Ohio location).

You most likely need to have some sort of certification to work with windshields. The windshield plays a huge part in whether or not the roof collapses in a rollover accident, as it's a structural piece. The mechanic would also need to know a manufacturer to make the new glass to do it right.
