Hi Scotty I have a huge problem regarding my 2003 Dodge Stratus 2.4l sohc coupe sxt with 202,000miles. Check engine light is on with code P0446 vent control valve solenoid. I called an asked Chrysler how can I get this part out from top of Evap canister they told me they haven't worked on 1 in so long I am on my own. how can I get this part off? I have been a fan of you're show for years. I know you can help me replace this part. there is no information or videos regarding this part replacement. thank you Scotty!
Just putting it out there for your consideration.
On those Chryslers, 50% of the time when you're getting a P0455 or P0466 pointing you to the gas cap (and it isn't) OR a large leak, from the fuel tank vent valve, it's actually the Purge Solenoid leaking.
Considering the purge solenoid is an easy test, a $30 part, and it's so much easier to get at to test/replace than the vent valve, you may want to check that first.
It's an easy test. It looks like this. The bottom hose goes back to the fuel tank, the top hose goes to the intake.
So, you disconnect the top hose, disconnect the electrical connector (so the computer can't command the solenoid to open), start the car, and hook a vacuum gauge to that top line connection on the purge valve.
If it starts pulling a vacuum (even a little), the purge valve is the culprit.

If you want to replace the vent valve, scotty did a video on how to do those.
