Exhaust manifold rattle, is it that big a deal?

Scotty,

I am the owner of 2 infiniti i35s, one from 2002 with a nice deer hit on the front passenger, and the other an immaculate 2003, both have automatic transmission and both made in Japan, and both have 138k miles and have had all preventative maintenance and recommended maintenance meticulously done on time or ahead of time in terms of all fluids oil et cetera. The immaculate 2003 recently started making an intermitant rattling, especially on an incline or sharp turn, and it turns out to be the exhaust manifold, possibly the bolt is loose or perhaps the gasket or even the manifold has a crack or other issue. It doesn't seem to impact performance and is not too annoying, how important is it to get this fixed, as the price is a bit steep and I am inclined to put it off, or perhaps drive it back to my hometown where a family friend (professional mechanic) would be able to do it for a much lower price but would require me to drive 1400 miles back to upstate NY from Colorado, or is this even something I could do myself? (I have done a radiator change successfully so that is my skill level)
