Always been a truck guy with V8s. Thinking of jumping into an explorer ST but was wondering what to expect with all these turbos on smaller engines nowadays.

Well, the direct injected turbo engines do not tend to last as long as their V8 counterparts. Personally, I'll never buy another Ford after having to sue them over my 18 F150. Cant recommend that company at all.
