Extended warranty for Toyota

Topic starter

Just sold my 2000 Silverado and purchased a 2017 tundra 1794 with 52000 mile and was considering purchasing a Toyota extended warranty from Toyota. Not sure of the cost just yet but however was considering for the piece of mind. Have never owned a Toyota before but they do have a reputation for high quality vehicles. (Absolutely love it so far) any insights would be very helpful. Thank you very much

Do not do it.  Most policies like that are worth less. The company usually finds away not to honor it.

You should absolutely read and understand your warranty BEFORE plunking your money down.  Pay particular attention to what is NOT covered.

I would pass on it.  This is the reason you bought Toyota in the first place.  If it was one of the many other brands, then I could see the argument for getting it.  But on a true and tried platform like the Tundra I would pass.  For the last quarter of a century I have never bought/owned an extended warranty.

Toyotacare is probably the BEST warranty I’ve ever had to work with. They do not put up a fight for coverage and you only get new factory parts not used or aftermarket that a lot will try and use… and as to the person above me if you buy a legitimate extended warranty they do not try to find any way out of doing the work.  If you buy the garbage you see on tv in the middle of the night then yes they have awful coverage and pay terrible rates and put the absolute cheapest parts they can find on the car. But extended warranties are awesome for exactly what you said peace of mind.  I say definitely look into the Toyota care warranty

Absolutely not. I have used their warranty and they do find away to not honor it..I personally know multiple people who have had the same problem.

I’ve had Nissans with Toyota care warranty and they’ve covered engines with factory new Nissan parts so I guess everyone has had different experiences.. even the inspectors that have come out for those claims have said how awesome there coverage is…
