Very good days. I'm going to change the air conditioning expansion valve. Will I have to add oil to the compressor?

What year F-150? Whenever you open the system, especially if you have an entirely original system, you're supposed to replace the receiver-dryer or accumulator-dryer along with whatever else you're replacing. They absorb moisture and filter debris out of the system. The absorbent loses its moisture absorbing properties over time, especially if it's been full of air for any length of time. A service manual like a Haynes will tell you how much PAG oil to add when replacing parts.
