I will probably sound like an idiot I have a 2005 Ford F-150 with the 5.4 triton 4x4 with 145,000 miles I bought it used with 115,000 but didn’t start shaking till 140,000 there are no codes My dad has a reader that will scan the whole truck and it could not find a single problem with it the truck shakes horrendously after driving it for about 30 minutes Or more I’m not sure if it is the tires or the brakes one of the rotors had gotten hot too where it had small cracks in it when I replaced the rotor the brake wasn’t holding an unusual amount of pressure against the rotor and brake is still in good shape I have also redone the control arms so I’m not sure if that could be causing it I did all the work for brakes control arms and the tires got replaced at the same time tires are balanced but I feel the shaking under the seats and like it’s coming from the back which is where the rotor was damaged is there any reason a f150 would brake on its own and if you think it’s the brakes should I get the brake system redone? I just can’t afford too do brakes and tires at the same time the tires I put on where west lake I’ve spent a few thousand getting the truck diagnosed and fixed but the problem was never fixed any help is appreciated.
Well, if it breaks on its own that means that the brakes are sticking somewhere. So driving around when it feels like it's breaking and it's on quick jack up the vehicle. Try to spin all the tires. You'll probably find one or more. The tires are sticking because the brakes are sticking there. You have to fix that first because if they stick that will then warp the rotors cuz they're on all the time could be a bad caliper could be bad. Master cylinder could be a bent line. Lots of things
