How do I know if I have a transmission problem on my Ford F-350 460 block gas?

It won't go into Drive or Reverse. Etc.
No disrespect intended, but I must admit I don't really understand the question. It's pretty much self-evident when a transmission is having problems. It's kind of like asking "How do I know if I have a flat tire?"

Rather than you guessing the source, and us gazing into our crystal balls and using our powers of telepathy to read your mind, maybe you could just give us the information. Start at the beginning by telling us what the difficulty is with your vehicle and the symptoms you observed. Thanks.
