Hello,
I have a 2011 Toyota Camry with 143,000 miles. Recently when the car is started cold there is a loud squealing noise coming from the serpentine belt for 5-10 minutes. Since this is an interference engine, I am concerned about the noise. How should I address this?
Thanks!
Yes but they have timing. Chains, not belts. Check pullies, see if ac clutch is going bad or ac compressor is jamming up. Open hood start cold look see if belt is slipping on any component. If not buy a new belt , before u install check all moving parts..MOTOR OFF ONLY!
I think you're a little confused. Your engine camshaft and valves are driven by the timing chain.
The serpentine belt drives accessories like alternator etc. Interference has nothing to do with it. Just change the belt.
