After diving around and doing some research I've been looking at the 2009 Toyota corolla what do ya think

Its the first year of the generation so I think you would be better off with 2011-2013 but just avoid the 2.4 engine in the XRS trim get a base model and you should be fine also have a pre-purchase inspection done by a mechanic before buying it. Other than that Corollas are great cars.

Corolla is definitely a good choice, but for 2009 the 2.4L engine had excessive oil consumption so I would avoid that.  See here: (this link is a work in progress)

If all you want is A to B you couldn't have a better car! I would listen to daywalker about getting another year with different engine.
