Hey Scotty, should I get a used 2012 Ford Fusion SEL thats $9k with 79k miles on it, or a 2014 Toyota Camry SE That’s $10 with a 143k miles on it. Now the the Camry does have an accident reported on its CARFAX.

Which first car should I buy?

If those two were your only options, I’d pick the Fusion. But as usual, you want to have a professional mechanic throughly inspect any used vehicle, before purchase.

Unless the Camry has just superficial damage which didn’t affect the chassis, I’d strongly recommend you not consider it.

You also want to verify the mileage on the Fusion is genuine.

If you end up with more questions than answers, you’re better off to just keep looking.

All the best!

Don't even consider the Camry if it has the U760E transmission, which it probably does, unless it was repaired under the warranty campaign.

If the torque converter issue with the Camry has been fixed by Toyota and your mechanic gives you a green light, get the Camry, otherwise keep looking.

For safety purposes, find a 2013-2015 4-cylinder Honda Accord LX that has not been wrecked. They have much better safety ratings than the Camry of the same vintage.

Here is the thing I would buy neither, but if I had to pick, I would go with the Fusion. Personally, I would look for an Accord in that year range or a 2015 Camry since that solved tranny issues surrounding the torque converters.
