Hi Scotty & Friends,
Car: 2007 Toyota Highlander V6 FWD 103000 Miles.
Symptoms: I street park my car and it is out in the cold. When I try to turn the steering from a cold start, it tends to make a loud rubbing sound (feels hollow and resonates in the cabin) which happens for sometime and doesn't happen while driving or while parking it after a short trip. The noise occurs only when I take it out of parking, which requires turning the steering from end to end quite a few times. The noise is prominent the first few times and fades away.
I did check the steering fluid, albeit dirty it is at the right level. I recently changed a quart of the steering fluid using a transfer pump and plan to replace another quart.
Should I be concerned ?
Thank you !!!
Carrier that means the pump is worn when called but it can also be the steering rack Warren when called all the cost a lot of money and if it works okay otherwise I'd live with it. But you might try putting some full synthetic power steering fluid that works better in the cold
Thank you 😊
