- I’m looking at buying my first car, to give you a little bit of context : I live in Montreal, I’ve been constantly traveling for  the past few years, I’m looking to settle back in my hometown and buying my first car, mainly for day trips, attending events, going shopping etc. I work from home. Also my mom is a mechanic ( she is quite new ) she has been a mechanic for just over 4 years, I’m thinking of buying a car we might be able to work on, I personally don’t know much about mechanics but I’d love to learn.

- here are the cars I’m looking at right now :

 - BMW e46

 - BMW e82 1 series

 - Audi A3 2011-2012

 - Saab 9-3

Any other suggestions ? Cars to stay away from ? I already know you will tell me to stay away from all of these and buy a corolla but we know I won’t !  😑

Thank you for your help, I appreciate it a lot

None of the above. Audis and BMWs are endless money pits as they age. The Saab is from a company that has been dead for nearly a decade and a half now, built on obsolete GM technology.

What you don't want to hear - Toyota or Honda, possibly late-model Mazda or Subaru.

@chucktobias hahaha, yep, what about something more sporty or something more for a car guy as I would like to say, please don’t make fun of me btw, english is my second/third language

If you want something sporty a Mazda Miata might do the trick if you don't need the back seat. The other Japanese manufacturers also make sporty vehicles, it depends on what you want and how much you want to spend.

Bear in mind that most of us are in the U.S., as is Scotty, and our recommendations are based on owning those vehicles here. The situation may be different if you're in a different part of the world.

Your English is fine, no worries.
