Hi there I am buying my first car, I am looking at a 2013 Honda Civic, 2 previous owners and no accidents for about 11k do you think I am making a good purchase? I want something reliable and I know from watching Scotty that Honda is good, but would this be a smart purchase for me for the amount?

@nos
They are reliable cars.

In 2014 they switched to CVT, some had failures while some didn’t.

Check KBB and see if the price is fair for your area.

I’ll do just that, thank you so much

Yes, not a bad car. But, if you can get a Toyota or a lower price, I suggest you do so. Hope this helps.

@squigwarg The Toyota I’m looking at is a 2013 Corolla l with 65k Miles on it, it’s 10k, would that be a smarter purchase that a 2013 civic EX with 45k miles at 11k?

I would say what is the mileage, does the transmission shift smoothly, and can I get a similar Toyota Corolla for same price or lower. If the mileage is to high, then I would say don't get it, if the transmission doesn't shift smoothly, than don't get it, and if you can get a similar Corolla for cheaper or the same price than don't get it. Have a mechanic check out the vehicle that you get and see what they say.

Thank you so much, it has 45k miles on it, a 2013 Toyota Corolla I’ve been looking at has 65k miles on it for a similar price.

great car, manual is even better

@nick20s thank you nick, between the 2013 Corolla l with 65k miles and a 2013 Honda Civic with 45k miles which one would be a smarter choice? The corolla is 10k and the civic is 11k

Corolla automatic transmission will last longer than Honda.

Honda has more fun factor and make the best engines. If you are into speed and making mods, go the Honda route.

I hope this helps you make your choice. Personally I would take the Corolla as Scotty talks so great about them very often.

Both are good choices,buy id go with the Corolla. I own a 2013 civic manual transmission, at 220,000 only 2 tune ups,brakes and tires. I know many who have had corollas also with nothing but good to say. Let us know your choice 😊
