Hey Scotty I live in Alberta, Canada. Recently a few months ago bought a 1997 Honda CRV with 496,000 kilometres. Right now it is febuary 2024 and the car has 515,000 kilometers. I only got it for $1400. I love the car. What are your thoughts on it and what kind of maintenance should I do on it. I do regular oil changes. Also what are your thoughts on the first gen 97-01 Honda crv’s. Thanks!
That was a game changer kind of vehicle. Helped to created the sub/compact SUV segment.
They are solid little cars, that is why you still see a fair many on the road.
The biggest thing at that age to watch out for, is the timing belt, if it goes it will likely take the engine with it.
Do a good check for parts that are aging, if it is burning oil change the pcv valve. At that mileage, not sure if I would recommend changing the trans fluid, unless you have records of it being done regularly.
Look in the FAQ section for a lot more maintenance tips.
