Wondering thoughts on a 1995-1999 Subaru Outback would be a good car for a commuter in Washington state, lots of snow out here. Looking at manual transmission ones from private party sellers. All seem to be clean with around 150k miles.

Yes with manual transmissions they're automatic stunk but the manuals I got a customer which one has 350,000 mi on it just take care of the engine and don't blow the head gaskets by over revving keep clean coolant in the radiator and change your oil often

Thanks a lot Scotty, should make a nice commuter.

Do as Scotty says, but also check to be sure head gaskets are not already dripping or you're in for an expensive repair right off the bat!

Thanks chuck! I found one with 160k with head gaskets replaced for 3k it was looking like a very good deal.
