Hi Scotty,
My wife and I are looking to buy a first manual transmission car just to drive it for hobby and learn it. Eventually I want to use it learn how to fix it as well. I am thinking along the line of honda civic, mazda miata, or toyota mr-2, etc... What would be the car that would be easy to drive?

Great idea,
The cars you list are all good cars,
They do however have all have different levels of complexity to repair,
The MR2 is mid engine and a little harder to work on and is RWD,
The Honda civic is straightforward enough to work on and is FWD.
The Miata is probably the most fun, very reliable and is RWD,
