Fix my Mercury Mariner or buy something else?

I have a 2008 Mercury Mariner with a blown transmission. It has about 180,000 miles on the odometer. The engine uses oil and the front end shakes when you apply the brakes. I was quoted $3,300 for a used transmission with no warranty. I have $5,000. Should I fix what I have or buy a used Toyota of some sort.... maybe a Seqouia or Sienna.

You could buy another, less worn/broken Mercury for that $3500 - https://www.kbb.com/mercury/mariner/2008/

Unless there is some overwhelming reason to defy financial logic, I'd wave goodby and look for something else

17 years old going on 18, high miles, blown transmission, oil burning engine, and other problems - just dump the stupid thing.
