Scotty! I need your help! 2005 Chevy Tahoe 4x4 166000 miles beautifully kept. Metal in the oil and low pressure sensor/Alarm on after the engine warms up. May get away with getting the lower engine done but no guarantee. $2500 minimum fix. I need this size truck for the work I do. I’d rather have a Toyota but interest is high and so is the price on a used Toyota. Do I fix or do I go?
Torn!

What can you get for that money in your area that will hold up for quite some time? Perhaps Scotty's videos can help you decide

That engine is most likely shot. Do you ear rod knock? It's a quite distinctive sound. My '79 Catalina had its rear main go out and I saved the motor by stocking extra oil in the trunk until a shop we use could repair it. It still runs and drives just fine. If you hear rod knock, the whole engine needs replaced, the last thing to go is your bottom end, not your top end. As you suffer oil starvation, oil can't get to the top of the motor, where the camshafts are. The last thing to go is your bottom end.
Yeah, that engine is likely is going bad and on its way out. try looking to trade in for like a ford pickup before the damage gets worse is my suggestion.
