Hello Scotty,
I own a 2012 E150 Van with 190000 miles. It has a 5.4 V8 and I use it to get supplies, a 250-mile trip highway, for my business once a week, and a few around-town errands the rest of the week. So about 300 to 350 miles a week. I bought it used with 117000 miles and noticed right away it would go a quart low between oil changes. Now I am adding about two quarts. I usually change the oil when the oil life indicator is at about 10%. That is on average at 6500 to 7000 miles. Checked the tailpipe and it is not oily but there is a little black soot, not much. No oil on the driveway and no discernable oil leaking. The question is what's the problem? Is oil just getting past the rings? The engine runs great otherwise. Is there a product I can add to the oil to stop the oil loss? Is it even worth it at 2 quarts every 7000 miles?
When did you last change out the PCV valve?
