I've been daily driving my 2005 E-350 5.4 2V with 222K miles for about a month now and I've noticed a few issues, one of which being the cruise control will randomly cease to work - I'll press ON and SET and it won't work at all. Then the next day I'll fire it up and it will work perfectly fine. Has anyone ever dealt with an issue like this and does anyone have any ideas for fixing it? I'm not looking to dump money in it.
When it failed once, I put the truck in neutral going about 60 MPH on the highway, restarted the engine, and it worked fine then for the rest of the drive.
Any help is appreciated.

Replace the CC switch, it's 17 years old now. AutoZone, #SW8195, $123.99.
