Hey Scotty I wanted to let you know that you are completely right about those Ford Ecoboost engines. I have a friend who has a 2013ish Ford Edge with the V6 Ecoboost he bought used. Now about 1 year owning it with about 100k miles the head gasket blew and now the turbo needs replaced. He got a quote for about $6k and now he has to decide to get rid of it or fix it.
Yeah I'm not making up stories here they don't hold up over time. And of course most break after the warranty is up
They are total crap. Friend with an F150 with an eco boost and when he first bought it he bragged about how much power they had for a V6 and as I expected it broke down like mad. He could’ve got his fixed under warranty but he didn’t want to because he figured out how much of a pile of 💩 they are. The only good gas engine ford makes now a days I believe is the 5.0L V8. Don’t buy and eco boost!
A lot of problems with the turbo engines comes from people not letting them idle for a few minutes and cool down with the oil circulating. Since it's run off the exhaust, if your just shut the engine down, the hot turbo cooks the oil with big problems happening. If you let it idle, it will cool down with lubrication.
