Car shakes when put in park

Hi Scotty,

I have a 2022 Ford Edge Titanium with a 2.0 Ecoboost engine and an 8 speed automatic transmission and 24,000 miles on it. When you shift from reverse to park the transmission makes the car shake. It shifts between the gears perfectly fine while driving. Do you think the transmission fluid needs to be changed? Or is the transmission shot? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You should still have powertrain warranty so take it back to Ford. Fluid change won't do anything. It's probably a cheaply made torque converter that warped, and you'll just get another shoddy one. Personally I'd get rid of the car after they fix it.

I took my car to Ford and this is what they said "road test performed, verified concern. Checked PTS for TSB/GSB/SSM. Scanned for DTC's. No DTC's Found Present. Checked for PCM/TCM UPDATE. No Updates present. Checked fluid level, level correct and good condition. Transmission strategy cleared/adaptive learning cycle performed. concern corrected." Anyone know what this "transmission strategy" stuff is all about? Is that another computer bound to go wrong?

The transmission supposedly "adapts" the shifting characteristics to driving conditions.

Maybe. At least you have it documented.
