I would like your opinion on a 2017 Ford Escape for 5950 with 221000 miles. Have yet to test drive it but at initial lookover everything is checking out so far

Those are not the most reliable vehicles to start with and at 221,000 miles you can bet the thing is pretty much worn out and ready to eat its next owner out of house and home in repair costs. Note the high incidence of serious engine and transmission problems:
