we have a 2009 ford escape. Got an engine alert and the scanner says it’s the solenoid. Took it in to a mechanic and they said it’s the second gear is worn and we need a new transmission.
Code reader says P0756

looks like you need a new transmission. If you don't trust the mechanic then get a 2nd opinion somewhere else. I would go to a shop that specializes in transmissions only.
The solenoid could be acting up, so to speak, for several reasons. It could be a bad solenoid itself. It could be a bad second gear. It could be wiring or bad control unit. It could even be dirty transmission fluid. Etc…
The code gives you a clue where to look, but you or a mechanic need to verify what the actual problem is.
It may be worth getting a second opinion.
