so i had a problem a where my car was driving fine then the highway , the steering got stiff and the engine begin to rev and wont move and i had to stop, the engine was still running but after i shut it down and try to restart it it wouldn't, i took it to the machanic and they replace my alternator and starter and it ran but i had a service transition light, i took it to autozone to check the light which was a information light not check engine light, i found a series of codes p068a, p0606 and p06b8.
the car runs but switch gears at a higher rpm, has significant decrease in mpg, sometimes slips gears, and jerks when coming to a stop.
i took it to a transmission shop and they say its my transmitting is bad but i know the p0606 code means my pcm is going bad and they says the pcm is not the issue.
could my car give bad codes or is my transmission shop lying to me?
i know autozone obd 11 scanners are not the best but code it be stored code that never showed up previously because i checked the codes before at autozone
The codes you am are getting are related to the PCM but here is another thing: These cars are notorious for their transmission issues. If you replace the PCM, it needs to be programmed as well and it is not cheap.
I would take the car to another shop to check and make sure what the exact issue is and then go from there, otherwise you end up throwing parts and money into the car without solving the issue.
