Ford New Service Action Number:21B10 for POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE REPROGRAM FOR CAM PHASER RATTLE

Hello Scotty,

I have a 2019 Ford F150 3.5L Ecoboost with 3600 miles with no issue yet. However, on April 2021, I received a notification from Ford company under Ford Customer Satisfaction Program the following note: FIELD SERVICE ACTION, POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE REPROGRAM FOR CAM PHASER RATTLE, Field Service Action Number:21B10

At that time I contacted Ford's delaer, and I explained about the Field Service Action Number:21B10 but he told me just ignore this Service call in case you do not CAM Phaser Rattle because when they re-programmed truck according to the 21B10 many Trucks developed a transmission failed and they had to replace the transmissions.

August 2021 I received a new notification for the same Code 21B10 therefore I did more research on this service call and I found Ford company sent to Ford dealers the following:

"The program terms and entry for 21B10 have been updated. The program will be in effect through July 21, 2022. There is no mileage limit for this program. Customers that receive that service from the 21B10 repair to December 31, 2021, will receive coverage for a Pro-rated cam phaser replacement (if needed) under a separate Customer Service Program (21N03) until Jan 1, 2023. We recommend dealers utilize their FSA VIN lists names and addresses to contact the customers with the affected vehicles. This will help to minimize the number of vehicles that may develop a cam phaser rattle, which requires more extensive repair".

Please, I need to help to clarify if you are aware of this service call and your recommendation?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Best regards,

AT

Well you see even their repair is prorated which means they'll rip you off. Now if yours runs fine it doesn't make any weird noises I would just leave it alone because if that other problem does occur there's no mileage limitation so they have to fix it later
