scotty is a 1999 Ford Ranger Pickup 2D with manual transmission 144k miles for $2800 in good condition a good buy?

Being only a two-wheel drive and being 22 years old I would try to pay at least $800 less

An old rule of thumb is "Where else can you get the same truck for less money ?"
Look around and decide ...

i found a 2002 Ford Ranger with an auto transmission with 160k miles for $2500 also in really nice condition

I like the older Rangers 1998 - 2011. Cheap, easy to work on, reliable especially with a 4.0L V6, old style body-on-frame in either RWD or 4WD, very versatile, good on insurance and tags every year, just overall easy to live with.
