Ford has changed the specs for my 93 Ford 4.9 six. They now say GF6 oil is safe, 5w20. For 28 years it’s had 10 w30. Is this a bad idea? Is GF6 oil that good?

I use a GF6A rated oil in my 02 Mustang and 14 Xterra without problems.They meet the API SP spec also.
I’ll try it in the old truck….see what happens with oil pressure

Should be fine to use it. GF6 is good stuff, no question.

I don't think it is a bad idea. Gf6 is good oil.
