- I have an 03 toyota corolla with 290000 miles all highway. When i put it in gear ,drive or reverse it just revs. If i rev it to about 4000 rpm it will kind of move. There are no trouble codes for transmission. It not the shifting linkage. I think the transmission just shot. Just wondering if there is somthing electrical that could cause it.

It sounds like the torque converter is done for. It is up to you whether you want to get it rebuilt or put in a used one. I never liked the idea of rebuilding transmissions...they will always have issues after the rebuild. But if you want to keep the car, just put in a used one if you can find it for cheap somewhere.

Did it go from working to barely moving suddenly or gradually? Have yo checked the transmission fluid?
