Looking for an SUV to pull a trailer, that gets decent gas mileage, is good in snow, and is reliable around $30,000. Basically have it narrowed down to either Honda passport or Toyota 4Runner. Since a lot of miles I do are on the road I am leaning more toward the passport but don’t know if I should trust the new CVT of the passport. Which car would you recommend or is there another option I’m missing?
Get the 4Runner if you are Ok with its gas mileage. High Hondas are not very good with automatic transmission.
New passports do not use CVTs, they have the 10-speed.
For towing and snow, the passport would be better.

Is there any specific reason you say that?
They both have similar towing capacity.
I have a 2019 4Runner and the mileage around the city is 18 mpg. I got nearly 20 one time on a long road trip. No trailer. I didn't buy it with gas mileage in mind.
I would go 4Runner myself. Never really cared for the Passport, though I'm sure they are reliable being a Honda. But for snow, I would think the 4Runner would be best.
With a $30k budget, I like to suggests a older Land Cruiser. It can tow much better than both of these cars.
