Hi Scotty,

I have a 2008 Lexus es350 V6, it calls for 5w-30. Can I use Mobil1 full synthetic or should I keep to conventional like the dealer said. I just bought it used with 110k. I have dealer records from previous owner,The vehicle  has been in every 5k for maintenance and the oil is clean. I like to switch to full synthetic and change every 5k how does that sound?  Also maintenance repot shows that previous owner had the transmission flush and cleaned @ 75k or 80k. With that being said how often should I just do a drain and fill on my transmission oil?
Thank  you very much.
Jaxson.

Personally for that conventional oil I would continue to use conventional I would not change the oil an engine has used if it's used it for that many miles

Scotty did not answer your question about ATF intervals.  But for that check your owner’s manual;  however, I like to go more aggressive than the owner’s manual and change it (drain and fill with filter change) every 40,000-50,000 miles since I want clean fluid always circulating throughout the transmission for longevity.  Fluid changes are (relatively) cheap but a new engine or transmission is not.

Also, change the engine oil every 5,000 miles.

Just run conventional at that mileage. Switching to synthetic may cause leaks as the additives can have a bad effect on old seals.
