Scotty,
Welcome to Middle TN!
Last September a fellow driver "failed to yield," causing me to t-bone his suv with my HD Sport Glide. (bike fixed, me, mostly fixed, and we are back on the road) My left side impacted his truck and left me with lingering joint issues, and, weakness in manipulating a clutch, prompting me to sell my beloved straight shift 6-speed Mustang GT. Boo-hoo...
I miss having a fun-to-drive car, and am looking at some used auto-trans units. What are your thoughts regarding a C-6 Corvette, a Miata, and/or a 350/370 Z?
Thank-You,
Mike
1. The Corvettes are finicky and expensive to maintain if you plan on daily driving them. They also sit very low which is an issue for rough roads/speed bumps.
2. Miatas are solid, fun cars to drive. However, only look at modern ones if you need an automatic as the old autos were slushboxes and very slow.
3. Just pass on the 350/370Z.
Mod_Man,
Thank-You for your comment, and I love your avatar.
When you say the vette is "finicky," can you elaborate?
Also, why should I take a pass on the Z car?
-Mike
Thanks! Well, Corvettes are notorious for always needing something. And they have their quirks. For instance, changing the clutch requires dropping the entire transmission. There are also a lot of electrical issues, which are to be expected on an older GM. As for the Z cars, they were pretty decent when they were new. But Nissan's don't tend to age well and if you look, I think you'll find the vast majority of Z's are salvage title and/or beat up badly.
my miata is an automatic with no problems, but i drive like a blind old man in it
if you have bad knees, you may have trouble getting in/out lol
Clemson,
I appreciate your response. I test drove a Miata, and couldn't agree more on the in/out knee challenge.

If you liked your Mustang, why not get another one of those? One of those with a healthy V8 is darn near as much fun as the manual.
Glen,
I'ver thought about it. My 2013 had the "live" rear axle and it was about the only thing I would change about the car. I have seen some 2015 and up units that have winked at me, so I am definitely looking that way, as well.
Thank-You,
Mike
Mod_Man,
Thank-You, Sir.
