Gas fumes 2008 Nissan Frontier

Hello, I have a 2008 Nissan Frontier V6 engine 260K miles. Recently when I crank it up I smell gas fumes. No smell of gas when not running and no apparent gas leaks. No codes and engine runs ok except for a little shake when idles. Could it be faulty PCV or something with the evap system causing this? Thanks

I would start easy and get a new gas cap. Then if that doesn't work, check the evap canister. Hopefully it's one of the two.

Do you have a check engine light? Usually with an evap leak you will.. otherwise you could check around your injectors for any signs of leaking if you haven’t already.. drivers side bank is easy to see but passenger side is under the upper intake

Not a PCV but off in a bad evap canister vent valve will do that or just a bad gas cap

Thank you Scotty. I will try new gas cap first and see what happens.
