Hey Scotty,
I live in New York and gas prices are shooting up the highest in years. How long do you think this will last and what is your advice in the meantime to conserve MPG on my car? Should I fill it up to F and drive conservatively? I don't drive that often.
Keep your vehicle properly maintained, tires properly inflated and keep driving conservatively.
Drive more like a little old lady and less like a young buck.
Or, you could do what I did during the '70's gas crises - fill up the car, and then siphon gas into your 60mpg motorcycle until it's over.
Yes, and then siphon the neighbor's gas.
might make some of those V8 Tundras price drop
(probably not)
Yes do that but of course gas prices is all the political thing they go up to go down like the waves in the ocean
If you don't drive often it is good to have a full tank. If you have a manual, you can try some coasting if safe and possible.

When gas prices are going up, fill up every chance you can. You’ll get the cheaper price in gas.
When gas prices are going down, wait until you have less than a ¼ tank before filling up. You’ll get the cheapest price you can.
I recently started accelerating more lightly to make my MPG go up. Made quite a difference since I typically drive fast
Try to have a lighter right foot. You'd be surprised how much your MPG can increase just from behavioral changes behind the wheel.
