Hello Scotty. Thank you for the abundant content on your YouTube channel! I am a subscriber.
I have a 2007 lexus rx350 that has the bad moldy smell coming out of the vents. I'm very sensitive to mold. I've cleaned these systems before by spraying the foam cleaner products through the ac drain line. On this car I went once through the drain line under the car, and then found I could pull the drain line from under passenger seat in the cab and spray the foam directly into the condensor box. So I've cleaned it twice, first with Kool-it and second with Klima-cleaner. And just a few days later I STILL have mold smell! And I live in the very dry climate of Wyoming. Something is not right. I've ensured the drain line is clear. I've learned that there's a class action lawsuit open against toyota right now as many of their models have this issue over the past 15 years. I just bought the car and really don't want to sell it as it's low miles and looks and drives like a brand new vehicle.
So I figure my only option is to take the whole system apart, clean everything, and replace the condensor. The oem condenser also let's off aluminum oxide. I have it on my dash every time I turn on the ac. So I wanted to ask if there's a different brand condensor you know of that might be less prone to mold and oxidation as the oem condensor is? Or if there is a modification I can do when I take everything apart to prevent this issue?
Thanks for your time.
Phil
Yes. I'm sure that mine is from the condenser
