Ford Ecoboost GDI/ Turbo opinions

I need opinions and experiences with Fords line of ecoboost engines. I know Ford is pushing these things out like mad. I personally am a little iffy about the longevity of a GDI/ Turbo combo.

Stay away. They don’t hold up as they age. Scotty has more than a few videos on Ecoboost engines. Here’s one of them - https://youtu.be/RnMct0xjPoQ

Oh me and Joe were just talking about that!

Anyways, they are tiny cheaply made engines the size of the engine is around the size of A4 paper and it has a timing belt and cylinder deactivation. Definetly a nominee for Ford's worst engines list.

Just reading the Wikipedia page about it makes you want to trade one in for a Fiat instead.

Seems like Ford has less problems with the larger displacement ecoboost engines. I have a 19’ Ranger (2.3L) with 18,000 miles and noticed the oil level rising 1,800 miles after my last oil change. Sending it to the dealership on Friday, but my guess is fuel diluting into the oil.

:  Opinion :

A neighbor out here where I live had (notice I said HAD) a 2017 Ecoboost Mustang.  He says the turbo went out just this past Summer & he claims the dealer won't cover it under warranty because of them using the OBD scanner to see that the engine was "over-revved" as they call it & that falls under "misuse" of the car that warranty won't cover.  Maybe that's Ford's way of saying that they want your money more than they want your loyalty??

/He sold the car & bought an older Chevy...something...type of car.  GOOD LUCK, neighbor!  0_o
