Hey everyone, I got a 2017 Mazda mx-5 miata gt with a manual tranny and has 58,000 miles and I was wondering if it is normal for the gear shift to shake both at idle and driving at highway speeds. I haven't really cared to much about it because it drives fine doesn't make any sounds, the entire car isn't shaking (just the shifter), and it has been doing it ever since I got the car at 30,000 miles. I was thinking about changing the tranny fluid but now I'm kind of worried that the tranny will start slipping after changing it. So my 2 questions are should I change the fluid at 60,000 miles and should I be worried about the gear shifter shakin?
Manual transmissions do not slip, automatics do. What does your owner's manual say about transmission oil change intervals in the maintenance section? As far as the gear shifter shaking, check your transmission cross mount and engine mounts for looseness or cracks and separation.
