What would have caused the gears to stick along with the door and rear hatch locks not work at the same time on my 2023 Hyundai Kona? We made the SOS call and while waiting for the tow truck, suddenly the rear hatch could be opened, door locks worked, and I started up the car and it shifted right into gear ! We cancelled the call and drove home and it has happened not again! Such a mystery !
Those Hyundai Kona vehicles are junk, unfortunately. A former coworker bought his first brand-new car a couple years ago and he sold it again within a couple years because of said problems.
These days the door locks and gear shift mechanisms are all run by computer. It could have glitched. Next time it happens, if it does happen, take both battery cables off, touch them together, wait 10 seconds, then reattach the cables. The computers reset that way.
