General Advice for New Car Maintenance

Topic starter

Assuming someone bought a brand new Toyota/Lexus with the intent to continue to own the car until it eventually gave out: what advice would you give them to have the best at chance of preserving the car for as long as possible?  My advice would be full synthetic oil changes every 3k-5k miles with Denso or Mobil 1 filters; drain and fill the ATF every 30k-50k miles with only OEM ATF, and do not wait on maintenance when issues come up because issues can compound. Follow the maintenance schedule, and find a trustworthy mechanic in your area because dealership techs do not have the incentives to perform the best work.

You don't think bad. Baby the engine if turbocharged. There are service manuals you get with a car. And we have 'Maintenace' section in FAQ for more informations
