[Solved] General question about a toyota / and its AWD system quality

I have a 2010 Toyota Matrix S AWD with 73,400 miles, with no problems now. Other than the premature brake wear problem on all four wheels 🙁 at 28K, and 65K. Bought used July 2011 from a Toyo dealer, had only 335 miles on the odo. When I buy a car I plan to get as many miles out of it as possible, hopefully, +200,000K, and not have to put too much money into it. Somewhere on the Web, I saw the AWD system will break down around 120,000k. I was reading Toyota took the AWD system from the Rav4. What do you think? What's your opinion of the model I have? I love my car, wish I ordered from the factory. The 440-watt JBL and sunroof would have been nice.

Thanks for your time.

Well, don’t believe everything you read on the internet, blindly.

Sounds to me like you need to fix your uneven brake wear, first.

As Scotty mentioned, Toyota builds robust AWD systems.

Thank you for your comment, InThrustWeTrust

I've actually never seen one of those all wheel drive system brakes so I don't agree with that

Thanks for your reply. But my question was about the AWD system. Have you heard anything about the AWD system on my vehicle, 2010 Matrix S AWD? Calling it quits after 120,000 miles. I was just commented about the brakes because Toyota did put out a TSB on the brakes instead of a recall. When I bought my car it was referred to as Certified Used, so the original 36,000-mile warranty wouldn't apply if something broke within the 36,000 manufacturer's warranty. Of course, the dealer that I brought the vehicle to have the rotors replaced didn't mention the TSB. Thanks again for your time. I enjoy your videos, and the still photos you insert into them.

He meant he never saw a Toyota AWD system break down, he uses text to speech so thats why it might have showed it as "brake"

Thank you for your clarification, Kerem. I see how using 'smart' phone technology would cause a problem like that. I have a doctor friend who uses the same. For her sometimes the technology will repeat a sentence

As for the model, the Matrix is a great vehicle but the S trim came with the 2.4 2AZ-FE I4 engine known for start burning oil around 60-100k miles. Watch out for that.

Thank you, Kerem for the oil consumption heads-up. My car does have the 2.4L. Great pick-up as compared to the 1.8. Use to have a 1998 Prizm with that sized engine.
