does anyone know if it would be possible to do an engine swap with a honda or toyota engine?

With enough money and custom fabrication you can do just about anything. I've seen people put honking big V8s into Nash Metropolitans. But if you're talking about just dropping a Toyota or Honda engine into a Subaru with minimal effort it's not going to happen.

I would not swap engines. You will have to re-engineer the rest of the vehicle to work optimally with that new engine including tuning the ECU. It’s a lot more work, hassle, and $$$ than it’s worth.
