2017 GMC Acadia when should I change Trans fluid?

Hi Scotty, love your channel!!

I have a 2017 GMC Acadia 40K, with the V6 VVT, front wheel drive only.

VIN 1GKKNLLS8HZ176976

Owners manual for severe service says to replace trans fluid at 72k.  For normal service the manual does not provided a discrete mileage to replace the trans fluid.

If I want this trans to last, when should I replace the fluid and what method should be used.  I have heard you say to only drain the fluid and put in new (Do not "Flush" the fluid out).  Is it necessary to replace the trans filter at 40k or leave it?  From your experience how many miles will I get out of this trans before it starts costing real money to fix?

Thank you so much,

John

change the fluid + filter every 60k.

Normally an automatic can last 200k, but these GM SUV's just weren't built to last.

You can change the fluid now. Drain and refill only. When you replace the fluid, remember that new transmission fluid can last longer today (50k-60k miles).
