I have a GMC Sierra 1500 SLE extended cab that has 300 000 km on it and only issues it seems to have right now is slight rust a hole in the cab but I could have a corner welded on for it and sounds like the timing belt needs to be replaced do you think it’s worth putting money into its a v8 5.3 litre and do you think it’s worth it
Probably. I mean, those arent expensive repairs. Better than having a car payment. I'd say fix it.
uhh you mean a $20 serpentine belt? That engine uses a chain for timing which doesn't need to be touched.
Lol I actually read it as serpentine belt. Habit. Definitely a timing chain as you said.
Mine has a timing belt still I have been thinking of putting a chain in didn’t know if I should or not
The 2004 Sierra 1500 came with the LM7 or L59 engine, which are both chain driven.

Guess I was wrong
Just asking, what is the year? It is a GM product, so I would watch out. Have you had any problems with it?
It’s a 2004 and not really nothing major
I would say keep it then. They were still okay back then so you will be fine.
