Good deal or bad deal?

Dear Scotty, I recently bought a 1961 Studebaker champ 3/4 ton for $400 and managed to find almost every mechanical piece to it. Getting it roadworthy would set me back about another $1500 doing all labor myself. Did I get a good deal?

Sounds good to me. Those old Champs are really neat trucks and parts are readily available. Does that one have the six or the V8?

I'm not sure what kind of bed the 3/4 ton version has, but for the 1/2 ton Champs Studebaker bought old tooling from Chrysler that was for the 1958-60 Dodge Sweptline pickups. (Studebaker was broke and didn't have the money for new tooling.) Those beds don't match up well with the Champ's Lark-based cab.

Fun fact: it was Studebaker that started the tradition of putting the manufacturer's name on pickup truck tailgates.
