Grand Cherokee Diesel Transmission Fluid.

Hi.

I have a 2008 Diesel Grand Cherokee. It is fitted with a Mercedes Diesel Engine and Mercedes 5 speed Automatic Transmission. The handbook says to use Mercedes specification Engine Oil but ATF+4 fluid in the Transmission. Surely i should be using a Mercedes specification fluid. You would not put ATF+4 in a Mercedes, right?

I am a little confused.

Any help gratefully received.

Thanks.

JD.

Hi MMJ.
Thanks for replying.
I am guessing that the Factory fill for my Transmission when MB built it back in 2008 was the 236.10.

I have had a look at the MB forums and nobody mentions ATF+4 so i have no idea if they are same spec.

Even my Jeep main dealer says it is odd why they use ATF+4 and not a Mercedes fluid.
