I had the fuel pump replaced and now the dash gage will not register the fuel level as full even though the tank is. Is there some way to calibrate the gage. I hope I don’t have to remove the sending unit. The car has 69000 miles and is 2003 LS Ultimate
Yeah you're going to have to drop the tank again you broke the stuff inside the tank
A common problem with these cars is the evap / vent solenoid (under the trunk) gets stuck or clogged and same for the hoses for the evap system under the trunk (you should see a metal panel covering the evap system directly under the trunk). The evap solenoid pulls air in from within the frame from what I'm told and it can get crude in there and not vent well.
This often presents itself as causing the automatic shutoff on the gas pump nozzle shutting off early. Worst cases is when you can only pump 5 seconds of gas into the tank before the nozzle starts clicking off repeatedly. So you think you are putting in a full tank when you actually aren't A hack for this that some people have had success with is is turning the gas nozzle 90 degrees and it will fill to the top just fine.....this worked for me. If I put the nozzle in the normal way the needle points just below the full line on the gauge. If I turn the nozzle 90 degrees, when it clicks off the needle is at the top end of the full line on the gauge.
This may not be the solution to your problem, but something to think about.
