Scotty, in a number of motorcycle engines you find a double spark plug per cylinder setup. This ensures a more complete burn of the fuel. Has any car companies tried this on their engines recently?
Yep. The Chrysler Hemi motors have 2 plugs per cylinder. Just changed all 16 in my wife’s 2013 Grand Cherokee a few months ago.
Everything old is new again! 🙂

I'm pretty sure the fuel burns completely with one spark plug. Otherwise catalytic converters would wear out a lot quicker.
Multiple spark plugs aren’t necessarily for a complete burn of fuel. Rather it is to (try) to get a better burn pattern.
Sounds like a gimmick to me.
Well, as some may recall Nash featured a "twin ignition" six cylinder engine that had two spark plugs per cylinder from 1928-1941.

I guess that's not all that recent, but I'm sure there have been others.
Some of the Ford 2.3’s from the early 90’s I believe had 8 spark plugs.
Back in the 70's Porsche used twin plug heads in some of its 911s so they could run a higher compression ratio without pinging. With to day's computer controlled everything, they aren't really necessary, except for the Chrysler Hemi.
