Me again, for got to also ask...I'm thinking of installing an intercooler the transmission fluid temp reaches 175 in only a few minutes of driving well 200 after 30 minutes of driving, with the mileage of 174432 is that a good idea?
You trans temp is exactly where it needs to be.
so that's normal for the temp to over 205?
yes
ok thank you mountainmanjoe
Well it all depends on your specific transmission's operating temperatures. I believe there is a transmission fluid cooler built inside your radiator already. On some other forums I researched, more than 220 degrees F is a bit high. Someone did mention that after they replaced their radiator pressure cap, the transmission temps went back down to 200 degrees F. Are you having problems with the coolant temperature as well? Maybe you need a new radiator pressure cap (the spring-loaded plunger inside the cap wears out eventually).
the radiator cap is fine, coolant temp is good Although I do need to flush the system DIC indicates the temp @ 200-205 after about 30-60 minutes on the road, except on days like today 33degrees, then it stays lower than that
@stunningclover
I think it's good. Perhaps the coolant flush will help.
